What are fatty amines? Fatty amine refers to a large class of organic amine compounds whose carbon chain length is within the range of C8-C22, and whose hydrogen atoms in the ammonia molecule are replaced by fatty alkyl groups. In ancient times, siblings used to be ranked in the order of the eldest, the second is the eldest, the uncle is the third, and the quarter is the smallest. Similarly, according to the number of hydrogen atoms in the ammonia molecule replaced by aliphatic alkyl groups, fatty amines are also divided into primary amines, secondary amines and tertiary amines.
Fatty primary amines: are the products of ammonia molecules in which only 1 hydrogen atom has been replaced by an aliphatic alkyl group. Primary amines have a wide range of applications. Primary amines and their salts can be used as effective ore flotation agents, anti-caking agents for fertilizers or explosives, paper water repellents, corrosion inhibitors, lubrication additives, biocides in the petroleum industry, additives for fuels and gasoline, electronic cleaning agents, emulsifiers, production of organometallic clays, additives in the processing of pigments, water treatment agents, mold-forming agents, and so on. Primary amine can be used to produce quaternary ammonium salt type asphalt emulsifiers, such emulsifiers are widely used in the paving and maintenance of high-grade highways, which can reduce the amount of labor for construction and maintenance, and help to improve the service life of the road surface.
Fatty secondary amine: refers to the ammonia molecule has 2 hydrogen atoms replaced by 2 the same or different fat alkyl products. Secondary amine is not used directly, mainly as a raw material for the production of dialkyl tertiary amines and quaternary ammonium salts. For example, herbicides, stabilizers of dioxane polymers, fiber waterproofing, antistatic and softener. Raw materials for water-containing fabric softener dispersions, raw materials for hydrocarbon fuel compounds, paper additives, petroleum additives, textile additives and so on.
Fatty tertiary amine: It is the product in which all 3 hydrogen atoms of ammonia molecule are replaced by fatty alkyl group. Like primary amines, tertiary amines have an extremely wide range of applications, and can be used directly as anticorrosives, fuel oil additives, biocides, extractants for rare metals, cosmetic applications, citric acid production, polyethylene antistatic agents, polyurethane foam accelerators and coagulants, release agents for rubber production, anticaking agents, process aids, glossing agents, and odor scavengers. In addition, it can be used to produce cationic surfactants, amphoteric surfactants.
